Charles Smith died from wounds on 7th May, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st Rifle Brigade battalion was part of 11 Brigade, 4th Division, that had been on the Western Front since the beginning of the war and during April and May of 1915 had been in action during the Second Battle of Ypres. |
